For national squash representative and businessman Sailesh Kumar Pala, every day is an opportunity to celebrate love, not just the 14th of February.
While speaking to fijivillage News, the 45-year-old says he is still fighting against the odds today to keep his wife happy and make her feel loved, even if it means going against his family.
He believes that love is all about trust, support and having someone who stands by you through thick and thin.
His wife, Mamta Pal says they met in 2003 and had a live-in relationship, despite their families' disapproval.
She says it was only after their marriage in 2013 and the birth of their first child that their families started coming together.
The 39-year-old says even today, they continue to face struggles, especially with family members living apart, however, their strong bond helps them navigate any difficulties.
Pal says for them, the greatest gifts they have given each other are their two children, Saiansh and Saivansh.
When asked about their plans for this Valentine's Day, Pal says instead of focusing on traditional Valentine’s Day celebrations, they prioritize spending time as a family, often taking their children out for outings.
She adds that their love is reflected in the way they support each other daily—whether it is her standing by Sailesh’s sporting commitments or him helping her with household chores after work.
They urge younger couples this Valentine’s Day to be patient and work through challenges together rather than giving up on relationships too soon.
