Springboks coach Jacques Nienaber has brought in veterans Duane Vermeulen and Frans Steyn to inject more firepower into his Rugby Championship squad as they prepare to meet the All Blacks.
Both men were part of South Africa’s 2019 Rugby World Cup winning squad but missed the Springboks’ 2-1 series win over Wales this month due to injuries.
While Vermeulen and Steyn return to the fold they may not be ready in time for the opening test against the All Blacks in Mbombela.
Nienaber says Duane and Frans are both very experienced players and they each have valuable traits that they bring to the field of play.
South Africa will face the All Blacks on the 7th of next month.
