It will be a historic moment for the villagers of Naqarawai in Namosi how they have worked together in the successful maintenance of their bridge.
Peni Sugumai highlighted this to fijivillage News on how the completion and repairing of their bridge became a reality.
Sugumai says the government engineers were surprised at how talented and skilled the villagers were as it took 10 days for the work to be done.
He says the difficulty of crossing the river for the past few months using a bamboo raft has finally come to an end.
He further says a week has gone by in which they stuck together through rain and their mothers have prepared three meals for the labourers in the past 10 days.
The villager says selflessness and care for one another with their belief in God has been their source of strength, wisdom and protection.
He says the villagers have acknowledged the support of the Fiji government and the government of China in considering their humble appeal for their suspension bridge to be repaired.
Sugumai adds that villagers have been reminded to take care of their bridge for the long run.
