“Cancer was and will always be the monster that killed our mother.”

Those were the words of Davila Speight the eldest of the five Speight siblings who lost their mother, Adi Litia Levulevu Iloilo Speight to cervical cancer in 1996.

At the time of her mother’s passing Davila said she was 14, Lucy 13, Sam 10, Henry 7 and Jerry the youngest 4.

Davila said their mother was a strong woman and because she wanted to protect them so much, she did not disclose her sickness until just a few months before she passed away.

The Speight family is supporting the “Walk On Walk Strong” campaign with family member and Brumbies winger Henry to have his head shaved by his team mates on Friday.

Meanwhile, Communications Fiji Limited, which is the parent company of Legend FM, FM96, Navtarang, Radio Sargam, Viti FM and Fijivillage.com is assisting the campaign.

A nationwide appeal will also be held on the 4th of next month.
If you want to make donations, the Westpac Suva CFL Appeal account number is 9800935794.

You can also visit the home of Fijivillage here at 231 Waimanu Road from now until August 4th to make donations.

This afternoon radio personalities of Viti FM will be at Ratu Cakobau Park for the schools Deans competition and will be continuing the WOWS appeal there.
