South Africa is through to the semi final of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games Rugby 7s Competition after holding off a wave of attacks from the New Zealand 7s side to win 14-7.
New Zealand were the favourites as they had defeated South Africa 17-5 in the pool game.
The game left the fans standing as both teams hunted for a win.
David Selvyn and Tristan Leyds scored a try each for South Africa, while Moses Leo scored for New Zealand.
Meanwhile, host France showed some spectacular rugby as they defeated Argentina 21-7 in the second semi final.
The French team dominated the match, scoring three unanswered tries in the first half.
Argentina came back fighting in the second half with two tries from Rodrigo Isgro and Joaquin Pellandini.
Antoine Dupont sealed the win for France as he scored in the dying minutes. South Africa will face France at 1.30am Sunday, and Fiji will face Australia at 2am Sunday.
The final will be held at 5.45am Sunday.
