Being the sole breadwinner in her family after the passing of her husband last year has not been easy for Ulamila Buto Vosa, especially when preparing her children for the new school year this year.
The Delakado, Tailevu woman says with a small canteen and livestock farm to sustain her family, the thought of preparing her children for the new school year felt overwhelming.
But Vosa is thankful for the $200 back-to-school initiative by the Coalition Government as she can breathe a little easier now.
Vosa says this support came just when they needed it the most and this means her children can go to school prepared, and she can focus on keeping their household running.
She thanked the Coalition government for providing such initiatives because it assists families like hers, especially being the sole breadwinner in the family and having to manage their family expenses.
The Back-to-School Initiative payments this year have provided a total of $130 million to Fijian families.
Vosa says raising six children on her own is tough and every bit of help counts.
She says this support shows her that they are not alone and that the government cares about families like hers.
