Sofitel Fiji’s Vatu Talei project will provide 350 permanent jobs on completion.
Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka says he would like to acknowledge the pivotal role tourism plays in Fiji's economy and the opportunities that Sofitel Fiji's new project “vatu talei” which means “The Jewel” would bring for growth, employment, and cultural exchange.
Rabuka says he anticipates the positive impact of the resort on the local community, particularly in terms of job creation and economic growth.
He says the project is expected to be completed in 3 years with a $200 million investment by the Richmond Limited Board which is a shareholder between Fiji Airways and BSP Life
The Prime Minister noted the importance of responsible development, adding that the resort's construction would respect and contribute to sustainable practices.
Rabuka emphasized the role of the resort as a gateway to showcasing Fiji's warm hospitality, vibrant heritage, and breathtaking landscapes to the world.
