All Blacks and Highlanders star halfback Aaron Smith has rated the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua team highly ahead of the start of the 2023 Shop N Save Super Rugby competition next week.
Smith says playing the Drua in Fiji last year was the most demanding environment to play them in and they were impressive.
The Highlanders halfback adds things didn't change much when playing them at Forsyth Barr Stadium in Otago because they had a dry ball to play with and they were very good with it.
Smith says it is what makes him love playing rugby because those kinds of games are unbeatable.
He says the introduction of the Fijian Drua and Moana Pasifika had brought new challenges to the competition.
He adds he can't wait for the Super Rugby Pacific competition to start later this month, especially for the unique challenges that are now part of the reshaped competition.
The Highlanders will play Moana Pasifika in their final Super Rugby Pacific pre-season match in Queenstown, North Otago at 7 pm tomorrow.
