Small to medium enterprises is key to the private sector for economic recovery in the Pacific region.
This was stressed by the Deputy Secretary General of the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat Dr Filimon Manoni during the signing ceremony of the financing agreement project between PIFS and the Melanesian Spearhead Group.
Dr. Manoni says women’s participation in the economy in the private sector through small to medium enterprises is a focus area as new opportunities will arise for Pacific women through the project.
The project aims at boosting and increasing intra-regional and international trade by strengthening institutional and technical capacity in the region and will facilitate the implementation of trade agreements and strategies.
The project is worth FJD$14.3 million and is financed through the European Union.
