A 36 year old single mother who was an alleged victim of domestic violence and sexual abuse will finally be able to support her two children as she has now graduated with a sewing certificate in the Solo Moms Training Project.
She is one of the 19 women that graduated with 20 weeks of skills and life skills training in Suva.
The woman says she got married at the age of 20 and she alleges that her ex‑husband used to beat her up and did not give money for any household expenses.
She says the husband used all his money for clubbing and alleges that he also had extra marital affairs.
The woman says she ran a small sewing business at home from which she generated some money to buy groceries and provide for her children.
She says she could not tolerate her husband torturing her anymore so she went to live with her parents.
The woman alleges that her ex-husband and his wife sexually abused her daughter who was staying with them.
It is alleged that the daughter was also forced into prostitution.
The woman claims that she has filed these reports with Police.

She also alleges that her daughter’s father and her step-mother used to beat her up and made her drop out of school and stay home for 3 years.
The woman says she is currently living with her parents and aims to support her two children with the income she will generate from sewing.
The Solo Moms Project has supported 54 mothers since 2013 and is funded by International Needs, New Zealand.
The Solo Moms Project assists women who do not have any steady source of income, are unemployed, live with extended families and are young single mothers.
