The Fiji Airways National Men’s 7s team defeated Ireland 26-19 in their final pool match in the HSBC Singapore 7s this afternoon.
Terio Tamani scored a double, while Joji Nasova and Ponipate Loganimasi scored a try each.
Ireland was ruthless in defence and attack, spoiling Fiji’s game plan.
Gavin Mullin, Terry Kennedy and Jordan Conroy scored a try each for Ireland.
Fiji’s win did not give them a place in the cup quarter finals as they are in last place in their pool with 4 points.
Fiji lost to the USA 33-14 in their first pool match, and they lost again to Great Britain 19-14 in the second pool match.
The cup quarter-finals will start at 11pm today, the semi-finals will start at 5.48pm tomorrow, and the final will kick off at 10.21pm tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the Fijiana 7s side will face Japan in the first quarter final at 8.27 tonight.
The semi-finals will begin at 5.02pm tomorrow, and the final will be held at 9.41pm tomorrow.
