Valley Road in Sigatoka has been closed to all vehicles due to muddy and slippery road conditions following heavy rain.

The Fiji Roads Authority is advising motorists to take extra care on the roads and be aware of surface flooding.

A resident of Vitivanua Village in Tavua also confirms the bridge along the road which leads to the village is flooded and is not accessible by any vehicles.

Lololo Back Road in Lautoka is also closed to all traffic due to flooding.

In the Northern Division, Wairiki Crossing on Navakuru Road, Labasa is flooded and closed to all traffic.

A heavy rain warning is in place for the western half of Viti Levu which includes areas from Sigatoka to Rakiraki and it is also in place for Vanua Levu, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands.

A heavy rain alert is in force for the rest of Fiji.

The rain is being brought by a trough of low pressure with associated cloud and rain that is slowly moving over the Fiji group.

The Nadi Weather Office says the trough of low pressure

is expected to affect the country until tomorrow.

Heavy rain may lead to flash flooding of low lying areas.
