Shyla Prasad, a medical laboratory scientist with three years of experience at the CWM Hospital will represent the Ministry of Health in Miss Hibiscus 2024.
Prasad aims to advocate for the importance of healthcare with a particular focus on HIV and AIDS, non-communicable diseases and mental health.
She says happiness is the real rich, health is the real wealth, and peace of mind is the real bag.
Prasad was born in Labasa and raised in Lautoka and then moved to Suva to pursue her Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science at the College of Medicine Nursing, and Health Sciences.
The laboratory scientist says her love for Suva grows stronger as she works in Fiji’s largest and historical hospital which celebrates its 101st anniversary this year.
Prasad is an animal lover and volunteers with the Sai Prema Foundation and works on animal adoption and care.
She says her ambition is to open her own animal shelter.
Prasad is one of the ten contestants in the 68th Hibiscus Festival from next Saturday to September 7th at the Suva Civic Foreshore and Civic Centre with FMF and Vodafone as the Gold Sponsors.
