Get a plantation and a house first before you can get married.
That is part of the draft village by-law that will go through consultations in the Tailevu province.
Speaking to Fijivillage, the Roko Tui Tailevu Iliesa Delasau says this will improve the livelihood of any iTaukei family.
Delasau says it will also eradicate the problem of overcrowded homes which is common in villages.
He says they believe that this will also enable parents to look after their own children rather than depending on their parents for everything.
He says as part of consultations, the recommendation by the villagers will be recorded by the Turaga ni Koro and then passed on to the Tikina representative.
Delasau says on the 22nd of this month, all the 22 Mata-Ni-Tikina from Tailevu will come together and discuss the recommendations to be taken up to the iTaukei Affairs Board for their decision and approval.
Fijivillage is trying to get other provincial councils on this issue as the draft village by-laws were tabled in the Tailevu Provincial Council Meeting.
There have been some mixed reactions on this issue however consultations will be held to determine what people have to say before it is taken for the final decision.
