Shore Buses CEO admits people are affected by irregular bus service due to road conditions in Wainadoi

Shore Buses Ltd CEO Jasper Singh has admitted that hundreds of people in Wainadoi were affected because of their irregular bus services this morning because of potholes on the road leading up to that area.

Singh says potholes on Chevalier Road was the reason why drivers who drive newer buses in his fleet which are about a foot above the ground were not able to drive on that road because it would have damaged the bus.

He says the older buses were able to service the route at about 6.30 am because they are a bit higher than the newer buses.

FijiVillage spoke to a Wainadoi resident who says her daughter boarded the bus at 6.30 am yesterday but because of the heavy traffic, she reached MGM High School at 8.45 am.

She says her daughter then decided to board the bus at 6am this morning to beat the traffic however that bus did not reach her area and had come up to Zipline Fiji in Wainadoi and returned.

She claims a bus finally arrived at 6.20am but the driver refused to accept her daughter’s student bus card because it could only be accepted after 6.30am.

She says she had to request a neighbour to take her daughter to school so that she is not late again.

Meanwhile, Singh says he has raised concerns on the condition of the roads in Wainadoi with the Fiji Roads Authority and is hoping that repairs will take place soon.

We have sent questions to the FRA and the Land Transport Authority and are awaiting their response.
