Shawntell Lockington of Xavier won gold in the Senior Girls High Jump in the last hour, Tuliana Tinai of Jasper took the silver medal while Josifini Tinairokowaqa of Grammar took the bronze medal.
She broke the record with a jump of 1.68 metres.
Lockington dedicates her record win in the Senior Girls High Jump to her cousin who died of blood cancer on Palm Sunday.
Lockington also pointed out that training and competing with her sister Lisa who won the first gold medal in the Sub Junior Girls High Jump yesterday has brought them closer together as siblings.
