Former President of Lautoka Football Association, Shalendra Prasad has been nominated to contest the post of the Fiji FA President on the 6th of next month.
Fijivillage has seen the nomination letter sent to Fiji FA CEO, Bob Kumar.
The nomination is signed by Lautoka Football Association Secretary, Muni Rajan Nair.
A statement released by Wheels of Change says the Fiji FA constitution states that to be eligible for nomination as a candidate for the office of Fiji FA President, the candidate shall have served Fiji FA as its Vice President or its member association as either its President or Vice President for at least 3 years of the last 5 years prior to the date of the Congress at which the election will take place.
Wheels of Change which is a group calling for a change in the Fiji FA leadership says this has opened the door for Shalendra Prasad as he qualifies to contest the election under this section.
When Fijivillage questioned Fiji FA CEO, Bob Kumar about the nomination, he said he is yet to see the letter.
He says he cannot confirm if Shalendra Prasad is eligible to contest the election.
When asked if he can confirm this after seeing the letter, he says he still would not be able to do that.
Kumar says this will be known when the nominations close 7 days before the election.
