All Blacks wing Sevu Reece has been messaging brother Cyril in Fiji to say "I could have been playing you tomorrow night’’.
While Sevu Reece has been named on the Crusaders’ right wing for the clash with the Fijian Drua, Cyril, will be watching from afar.
But they could have been on opposite sides for the Drua’s first Super Rugby Pacific visit to Christchurch.
Reece says his older brother used to play for the Fijian Drua but stopped playing because he’s just had a baby.
Reece created Super Rugby history last weekend when he became the quickest player to reach 40 tries in his 50th match.
He moved to New Zealand in 2014 to play rugby at Hamilton Boys High School but grew up in Fiji playing rugby with most of the players in the Fijian Drua squad.
He says he met up with his Drua buddies when they were staying at the Crusaders’ hotel in Melbourne last month.
The Drua meet the Crusaders at 7.05pm tomorrow.
In other matches, the Reds will take on Moana Pasifika at 9.45pm tomorrow, the Chiefs will play the Force at 4.35pm Saturday, the Rebels will face the Hurricanes at 7.05pm Saturday, the Blues will meet the Brumbies at 9.45pm Saturday, and the Waratahs will take on the Highlanders at 3.35pm Sunday.
