Thousands of people living in elevated areas from Lami to Naitasiri are expected to face water disruptions due to the heavy rainfall experienced this morning.

The Water Authority of Fiji is advising residents who are feeding from the Tamavua system that the water supply is currently being disrupted due to severe flooding at the Savura and Waimanu Pump Stations.

They say the heavy rainfall this morning has caused significant flooding, impacting their ability to maintain normal operations at these facilities.

WAF says the Savura Cascade Dam is currently blocked, resulting in the shutdown of all Savura Raw Water pumps.

They add that elevated turbidity levels are affecting water quality, further complicating production capabilities.

WAF says their divers are on standby and will proceed with diving operations as soon as water levels recede and conditions are deemed safe.
