A Severe Thunderstorm Warning for heavy rain is now in force for the western half of Viti Levu from Korolevu, Sigatoka, Nadi, Lautoka, Ba until Rakiraki, interior of Serua-Namosi, interior of Nadroga Navosa, interior Ba and Ra and Naitasiri, Bua, western Macuata and western Cakaudrove provinces.

The Nadi Weather Office says a moist northeasterly wind flow prevails over Fiji while a trough of low pressure approaches Fiji from the southwest.

They say severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rain that may lead to flash flooding in the warning areas over the next several hours.

People are advised to keep clear of flooded creeks and drains, not to walk, ride bike or drive through flood waters, unplug computers and appliances, stay indoors away from windows and keep children and pets indoors as well and to stay vigilant and monitor the condition.

They also say that hot and humid conditions are expected across Fiji, with maximum temperatures expected to reach 32 to 35 degrees celsius.
