Dawasamu Secondary School's Kesaia Senikuba scored two tries to help her team win the Weet-Bix Raluve U18 Competition after beating Mahatma Gandhi Memorial High School 14-12 in a thrilling final this afternoon.
Fans were treated to some exciting Secondary Schools girls' rugby during the match with some big hits and spectacular set-piece moves from both sides.
Dawasamu started the game strongly scoring a converted try in the early stages of the first half to take a 7-0 lead before MGM replied with two quick tries; one of which was converted to gain a 12-7 lead.
Dawasamu scored a converted try 7 minutes later to regain a 14-12 lead.
Dawasamu went into half time holding a narrow 14-12 lead.
Senikuba says they never expected a tough game like this but they wanted to win so badly.
She says they executed their game plan well today which helped them win.
She adds MGM was a really tough opponent and they really gave them a good run for their money.
The second half was a tight one as both teams defended hard but no points were scored and the game ended in the same scoreline from the first half.
Senikuba was named the best player of the match.
In the Raluve U16 final, Sigatoka Methodist College outclassed Naitasiri Secondary School 22-5.
Meanwhile, in the Vodafone Super Deans finals earlier today, Marist claimed the U14 title beating Suva Grammar School 13-0 and Grammar also won the U15 title edging Ratu Kadavulevu 17-12 while RKS beat Queen Victoria School 19-13 to win the U16 title.
MGM High School beat RKS 16-15 to claim the U17 title and RKS beat QVS 29-21 in the U19.
The main Vodafone Super Deans under 18 final between Natabua High School and QVS is underway.
