The Senidilo Women’s Homestay Project worth $38,000 has been opened and is expected to boost economic activity for the people of Saqani in Cakaudrove.
Acting Prime Minister and Minister for Rural and Maritime Development, Dr. Mahendra Reddy told the women of Saqani village that he wants to see their enthusiasm, passion, and commitment in utilizing the natural resources to full capacity but at the same time ensuring that natural environment is not compromised.
The President of Senidilo Women’s Homestay, Makarita Naliga says this homestay will open a lot of development opportunities for the village of Saqani.
The Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development has invested $300,000 on women’s projects in the last three years through its Self-Help Program.
The Ministry has been supporting women’s initiatives such as Fish Ponds, Horticulture, Outboard Motor Engine and Boat, Roofing Irons, Virgin Coconut Oil projects, Bakeries, Water Projects, Freezers, and Dairy Projects.
It has also recently ventured into tourism-related projects, like the Senidilo Homestay Women’s Project.
