Minister for Health Dr. Ifereimi Waqainabete says it is important to know that seeking healthy advice is also a macho thing to do.
While speaking during the Movember event held at the US Ambassador’s residence, Dr. Waqainabete says that we need to continue our awareness around cancer even after Pinktober and Movember.
The Health Minister says by doing that we will be helping eliminate the stigma that is around it.
Waqainabete adds the common cancer in men in Fiji is Gastrointestinal Cancer.
Meanwhile, the US Ambassador to Fiji, Joseph Cella says it is our moral obligation to get medical check-ups.
He says it is also about transparency when it comes to our health.
Dr. Waqainabete, Cella and the New Zealand’s High Commissioner to Fiji Johnathan Curr were part of a group of men who shaved their beards and moustaches during the event to raise awareness on cancer.
