Schools all over the country have been encouraged to celebrate the ‘Nelson Mandela International Day’ which is tomorrow.

The Ministry of Education permanent secretary Dr. Brij Lal has encouraged schools to observe this day and to identify with values that demonstrate Nelson Mandela’s life and his struggles for equality and justice.

Dr Lal said Fiji is in a historical period preparing for election and leaders such as the great Nelson Mandela possess values that lay a sound foundation for the children of this nation.

As a day set aside by the United Nations, the Ministry of Education permanent secretary says that it was an opportunity for students to learn more on the struggles Mandela faced in his pursuit of justice and equality in South Africa.
