A school teacher charged with 4 counts of rape, 2 counts of indecent assault and 7 counts of sexual assault has been released on bail by High Court Judge, Justice Salesi Temo.
Defence lawyer Aman Ravindra Singh told the court that the accused is remanded in custody for 11 months and 22 days and there is no chance of interference with the state witnesses.
The state objected to bail saying that there is a chance of interference.
Justice Temo granted the accused bail on strict conditions and if there is any complaints of interference, the accused will be immediately remanded in custody.
It is alleged that Umesh Prasad had committed these offences between 1st January 2010 to 31st October 2013 while serving as a teacher in a school in Nasinu.
The trial will start on the 27th of November this year.
He has pleaded not guilty.
