This school has played a special place in my life, shaping me into who I am today.
Director General Fiji Red Cross, Ragigia Dawai highlighted this at the International School Suva 50th Anniversary which was held at the school earlier today.
Dawai says as time passed she got used to this beautiful tapestry of colours as it was a new experience, and looking back now she realizes her father’s decision to enroll her in this school was a wise one.
Dawai says her father saw the school’s potential to groom her for the journey of life that lay ahead and during her time there she made cherished memories, good and bad.
She further says it was the people, the students, teachers who left a lasting impression on her.
The Director says as she reflects on those years, she feels gratitude for the love, care, inclusion, and also the friendship and guidance from the school as it became a home away from home for many of them, a true family community.
She further says little did she know that those experiences of building and strengthening relationships would help her in the world she leads today.
Dawai says life took her from the Tourism industry, banking, telecommunications, exposing her to diverse markets across the world and cultures.
She further says now as Director General for Fiji Red Cross Society she finds herself communicating with people from 192 countries.
The Director says the relationship building skills that she learnt at the school has proven invaluable in her career and personal life.
She further says as we celebrate the 50 year milestone of International School Suva we recognise the profound impact it has had on their lives and on Fiji as a nation.
Dawai says she is heartened to see the local students that are attending the school now and the harmonious blend of students from different backgrounds, it is a testament to the core values of lifelong learners or for her local experience and local action.
