Permanent Secretary for Health Dr James Fong says they are not relocating the Savusavu Hospital.
Doctor Fong says they have had geo engineers go and do tests on the land that was giving them problems behind the hospital to confirm if it was safe, and was the reason for why work was taking so long to get started.
Residents are calling for a complete overhaul at the hospital and say everything needs to be changed, from the leaking ceilings, warped floors, smelly toilets, chipped tiles and peeling paint to old medical equipment.
Doctor Fong says the tenders are out and the finalised plans are with the Construction Implementation Unit at the Ministry of Economy.
He says they may have to shift the hospital services somewhere else or it may mean shifting their services around the area.
