In a bid to promote the game of cricket in Fiji among the youths, the best teams from Fiji's 12 Cricket Associations came to compete in the Super 8 Tournament which included representatives from the mainland and maritime associations at Albert Park in Suva yesterday.
The tournament also served as a platform for selecting players to represent Fiji in international engagements, including the ICC T20 World Cup qualifier in Samoa.
Minister for Youth and Sports, Jese Saukuru, while officiating at the closing ceremony of the tournament, commended the participants for their dedication and sportsmanship.
Saukuru congratulated the winning teams for their outstanding performance, commended all the participants for their efforts and emphasized the importance of perseverance and teamwork in achieving success in the sport.
He thanked the organizers, sponsors, and supporters who made the tournament possible and he acknowledged their contributions to the development of cricket in Fiji and expressed his gratitude for their continued support.
The tournament, which brought together the best teams from Fiji's 12 Cricket Associations, saw Kabara emerge as the victors, with Suva securing the second-place position, Moce finishing in third place, and Lakeba team securing the fourth spot.
