Sanjay Dutt has announced that he has finally beaten lung cancer and has emerged "victorious" in the battle.

In a note posted on social media, he says past couple of months has been tough for him and his family.

He says the last few weeks were very difficult time for his family and him but like they say, God gives the hardest battles to his strongest soldiers.

Dutt says today, on the occasion of his kids’ birthday, he is happy to come out victorious from this battle and be able to give them the best gift he can--the health and well-being of their family.

He also thanked his fans for their love and blessings.

The actor says this wouldn’t have been possible without the unwavering faith and support from all them.

He says he is eternally grateful to his family, friends and all the fans who have stood by him and been his source of strength through this trying time.

Dutt also thanked his doctors and staff for taking good care of him and is especially grateful to Dr. Sewanti and her team of doctors, nurses and the medical staff at Kokilaben Hospital who have taken such good care of him in the last few weeks.

He says he is humbled and grateful.
