My communication was to the Chair of the Electoral Commission - Chaudhry

FLP Leader, Mahendra Chaudhry and Supervisor of Elections, Mohammed Saneem

Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem says Fiji Labour Party Leader, Mahendra Chaudhry made wild and vicious allegations against the staff of Fijian Elections Office without evidence while Chaudhry says his communication was to the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission and not with the SOE.

Saneem says when the FEO asked Chaudhry to provide evidence of his claims and assertions he has no evidence and no substance to back up his assertions.

Saneem says they now have a compilation of the history of Chaudhry’s behaviour and will be dealing with it appropriately.

He adds they are focusing on the initiation process of the election and deal with these issues in due course.

While responding to Saneem, Chaudhry says although the matter has been dismissed by the Chairman of the Electoral Commission, the matter is alive as far as Chaudhry is concerned.

Chaudhry says it has become a habit of Saneem to launch attacks on him and FLP at almost every press conference Saneem has held in recent weeks.

He says the attacks appear to be associated with Saneem’s displeasure at being questioned for his actions that they consider to be wrongful.

Chaudhry further says the right to lodge a complaint against the SOE and any other FEO staff for that matter, is provided for in the Electoral Act and that right must be respected by all.

He adds Saneem should not be making accusations without any basis.
