22-year-old Tuidraki Samusamuvodre from Nadi will captain the Swire Shipping Fijian Warriors during the World Rugby Pacific Challenge competition which kicks-off this Friday at the ANZ Stadium.
Samusamuvodre has been rising through the ranks of Fiji Rugby over the last couple of seasons representing the Fijian Latui, Fiji Airways Fijian Drua and the Fijian Warriors in 2019.
He says that he is grateful for this opportunity and this will be the first time for him to captain a national team.
He further says players have been cooperating well at training especially during the physical sessions and they are ready for their first game against Samoa A this Friday.
Meanwhile, Warriors coach, Kele Leawere says Samusamuvodre brings a lot of experience to the team and is a great leader.
Leawere says that he is sure with the help of other senior players he will be able to guide the team on the field.
The Fijian Warriors will open their World Rugby Pacific Challenge campaign against Samoa A at 5pm this Friday.
