Falling under the National Trust of Fiji, the Samabula Sikh temple today re-opened its remodeled Gurudwara, in Samabula.
Multi culture and unity was evident when about 700 people of different ethic groups from around the country came together to join this auspicious occasion.
Built in 1923, the Samabula Sikh temple, gave shelter to many people coming from different ethic groups.
About three years ago a decision was made to renovate the Sikh temple and give it a modern look as this is one of the oldest Sikh temples throughout the country.
While speaking with Fijivillage, the senior priest of the Gurudawa Bhupendra Singh says that putting god as a witness, everyone from different ethic groups, different beliefs have came together to mark this celebration of a modern place.
The renovated Gurudwara has the second largest paintings in the country of the Sikh history heros.
During the inauguration, a interfaith prayer was held for the people of Fiji and also in remembrance of the victims and their families that got shot in Christchurch.
