All Blacks captain Sam Cane has been given an extra week off but the Chiefs are back to a full squad as their pre-season cranks up a gear, a month out from their first match against the Highlanders in Hamilton.
Their remaining All Blacks, including Anton Lienert-Brown, Damian McKenzie and Brad Weber, are back training this week after the summer break and working under new head coach Clayton McMillan for the first time.
McMillan last month revealed their plan to ease Cane’s workload after skippering the Chiefs and the All Blacks throughout a gruelling 2020 campaign and the openside flanker will begin his pre-season next week, more than three weeks before their Super Rugby Aotearoa opener on March 5th.
The Super Rugby Aotearoa kicks-off on the 26th of this month.
