Minister for Health Dr Ratu Atonio Lalabalavu says saline solutions are in stock at the Fiji Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Services Centre (FPBS) while IWA (Fiji) President Judy Compain asks where are the 3,000 units the Ministry had said on Monday.
Dr Lalabalavu stated this from India while replying to fijivillage News, saying the stock supply and resupply are based on ordering.
He says CWM Hospital is a priority facility as it is the main tertiary health facility in Fiji and as such the Ministry will take all the necessary steps to ensure that orders from CWM Hospital are prioritized.
He stresses the IV fluid is in stock, there is a global shortage, and the facilities have been urged to utilize their stocks wisely.
The Health Minister says he has not been informed on stock outs at the CWM Children's Ward.
He reiterates that there should be no stock outs at the Children's Ward as it is a critical ward.
The International Women’s Association (Fiji) delivered 10 cartons of saline solution to the CWM Hospital Children’s Ward yesterday afternoon, on top of the ones they delivered on Tuesday and questions are being asked on where are the 3,000 units plus the 4,200 units yet to be cleared by the Fiji Procurement Office (FPO) that the Health Ministry had said on Monday.
IWA (Fiji) President Judy Compain is asking the Government for answers.
Compain says the Paediatric Doctors Emergency Fund was able to purchase another 2 cartons.
She says the saline solution was not hard to get.
