Sabha wants communal seats abolished
Communal seats and communal representation should be abolished.

This is part of the constitution submission by the Arya Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji.

The Sabha believes that with the abolition of communal seats and the introduction of common political franchises for all Fijians, this will lead to harmonized political governance and the removal of racial prejudice and political intolerance.

The Sabha also said that common identity is the foundation for a strong and vibrant Fiji where it will lead to the building of bridges between the existing ethnic divide and the diminishing of communal political grandstanding.

The Sabha agreed with the call made by government that all people be called “Fijian” and this name to be enshrined in the new constitution.
