Celebrating 55 years of being a school for girls, the Saint Joseph Secondary School Alumnae will be launching the school’s Emerald Celebrations this weekend.

Saint Joseph Secondary School opened its doors in 1956 as a school for young women and was run by the Sisters of the Order of St Joseph of Cluny to undertake Catholic education of young women in Fiji.

This year, former students from around the world are expected to converge in the capital city to renew old friendships and to also see ways they can help the school.

Old scholars include the First Lady Adi Koila Nailatikau, Adi Samanunu Cakobau Talakuli, Gaetane Austin, and Bernadette Rounds-Ganilau, amongst others.

The launching of the Emerald Celebrations will be held tomorrow from 6 to 8pm at the Saint Joseph Secondary School Hall in Suva.

The week long Emerald Celebrations is scheduled for the 24st to the 31st of July.
