24 households of Abaca Village in Vuda, Lautoka have had their rural water supply upgraded.
Chairman of the Abaca Village Water Committee Pauliasi Kubu, says that there has been a vast improvement in the supply of water to every family; the supply has dramatically changed.
He says that the new system that was upgraded by the Water Authority of Fiji includes the construction of a new dam and a 45,460litre reservoir.
Kubu says that the previous water system was constructed sometime in the 1960's, and since has developed leaks and failed to deliver an adequate, consistent supply of water to the village.
The $80,759.00 project that took three months to complete will store enough water for the village of Abaca and will also assist those villagers who are going to build their houses later.
