The people of the Cakaudrove Province will no longer be sent to major hospitals to be assessed for dental and oral health after the Savusavu Hospital Dental Clinic received a $7,000 worth portable digital dental x-ray machine from the Rotary Club of Savusavu.
Dentist Dr Ratu Levani Takiveikata says he is grateful for the donation that will benefit not only the people of the Cakaudrove Province but the Northern Division as a whole.
He says they really needed this equipment as it is important in helping them to diagnose a lot of oral health conditions.
Dr Takiveikata says it will also enable their team to visit remote areas and conduct examinations with immediate results.
He adds most of the time, they had to send patients to major hospitals but now, that will be a thing for the past.
Speaking on behalf of the Club, Committee Chair Ronni Van Applebaum says the donation was in partnership with the Rotary Club of Delmore, California.
She says this device will allow the dentist and his staff to go and conduct their oral health examinations in all the 6 primary schools and 40 remote villages at least twice a year.
She adds the Rotary Club of Savusavu has also gotten the sponsorship of the Rotary Club of New Bronson Texas for 36 wheelchairs which will arrive in 2 weeks for Savusavu's 12 remote clinics under Savusavu Hospital.
