The Fiji Roads Authority has highlighted that adverse rain over the past weeks has significantly deteriorated roads and crossings in the Western Division.
When asked about the 12-year-old boy who lost his life after being thrown from a moving vehicle along Natadola Road due to potholes, the FRA says they are deeply saddened by the incident.
However they would not pre-empt on the cause of the incident.
The FRA is urging drivers to prioritise passenger safety and exercise extreme caution when navigating challenging road conditions.
The FRA is committed to addressing the issue of deteriorating road conditions expeditiously.
They add that they are prepared to undertake immediate repairs, with reinstatement works already scheduled for the affected areas to enhance road safety.
