The Fiji Roads Authority says the road works in Lami near Suvavou Village has been delayed due to rain.

CEO, Johnathan Moore says the FRA would prefer to lay the asphalt at night but the Asphalt plant is not permitted to operate after 5pm and not before 8am.

He says the one thing that rain does seriously affect is sealing and they have lost at least 4 days in the last week due to heavy rain.

He says the Asphalt plant is also not allowed to work on a Sunday so there will be no sealing today.

Moore says they intend to complete the work before the end of next week, weather permitting.

He assures they will be keeping off the road during peak hours but there could be congestion during the day.
