The narrow and unsealed Lutu Road in Tailevu has been upgraded and has brought smiles to the residents of Lutu settlement.

Fulton Hogan Hiways Korovou Depot Supervisor Ulaiasi Bolalailai says the upgrading of the narrow and unsealed Lutu Road was a priority.

Bolalailai says their team has been at the Lutu site since last week and have used an excavator and a grader to dig out soft spots, reshape the road, clear road edges.

A head wall was also installed on one of the old culvert crossings.

He says the road branches off from Vunidawa Road along the Kings highway.

Bolalailai adds the work they have done provides an improved access to students going to and from school and farmers to take their crops to the market and have their milk cans picked up each day.

Meanwhile dairy farmer Rama Jas of Lutu Settlement says he will not miss a milk pick up again as long as the Lutu Road that services his farm and surrounding communities remains upgraded.
