The Marama Na Roko Tui Dreketi, Ro Teimumu Kepa is expected to become the new leader of the Social Democratic and Liberal Party this afternoon.
A Special General Assembly meeting will be held this afternoon where the Management Board who have already appointed the leader will make the public announcement.
Other people who applied for the top post included Ratu Jone Kubuabola, Dr Tupeni Baba, Anare Jale and Ratu Meli Saukuru.
However Saukuru withdrew his application as he said that he respects Ro Teimumu as she will be a strong leader.
Tabaiwalu said discussions today will focus on the appointment of the party candidates contesting the elections, the endorsement of the Women's and Youth Councils and the party's constitution amendments.
Tabaiwalu said a big turnout is expected as party supporters from the West and the North will also be present at the FTA Hall this afternoon.
