New Zealand born actor, and Riverdale star Savae KJ Apa has been bestowed the Samoan chiefly title Savae.
The Coconet TV announced on Instagram that the actor (real name Keneti James) is currently holidaying with his family in Samoa and was bestowed the title in a traditional ceremony by the chiefs of his village of Moata’a.
In an Instagram post, Savae posted a photo from the ceremony, with a caption in both Samoan and English.
“O la’u fautuaga - o le a ou tautua i le tatou aiga ma le tatou nu’u. Fa’afetai i le Atua. My goal is to serve my family and my village (Moata’a) Thank you God,” it read.
The 25-year-old was born in Auckland and his father is a Samoan Matai.
The Talamua Online News reported Savae spent some of his childhood growing up in Samoa.
Savae played Kane Jenkins on Shortland Street in 2013 and in 2017 landed the lead role of Archie Andrews in the popular Netflix drama, Riverdale.
