The hidden stories and behind the scene play on how the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua sailed through the challenges of setting up a professional rugby team is entailed in their book, “The Rise of the Drua, How A Rugby Dream Captivated A Nation” that launched tonight.
The book has behind-the-scenes stories and photos that have not been seen by the Drua fans.
While launching the book at Damodar City, Fijian Drua CEO Mark Evans says this is a milestone achievement for the club because the book highlighted some of the challenging times in rugby.
He says the book highlights the struggles the Drua had to go through, not only financially, but also the hardship the players had to go through, staying away from their families for months.
Evans says they hope the book inspires young and upcoming rugby players to reach for higher things.
The CEO adds they are also hoping to have a successful 2025 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific season.
The book will be on sale at the Damodar City complex tomorrow and it costs $50.
The Drua will host the Brumbies in their first match next season at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva on the 15th of February next year.
