Team USA has set a new 4x100 metres relay record at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest after Sha’Carri Richardson led her team to win gold over the weekend.
Richardson anchored Team USA and faced off with rival Shericka Jackson of Jamaica in a fiery final.
The American quartet of Tamari Davis, Twanisha Terry, Gabby Thomas and Richardson crossed the line in 41.03 seconds to record the fastest time ever at a World Championships.
The Jamaican team of Natasha Morrison, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Shashalee Forbes and Jackson finished with a time of 41.21 seconds to win silver the British quartet Asha Philip, Imani Lansiquot, Bianca Williams and Daryll Neita claiming bronze with a time of 41.97s.
