The latest Nadi weather update issued at 5:30am today, stated that a strong wind warning remains in force for the land areas of the Fiji Group.
A tropical depression was located to the far south southwest of Nadi at 3am today and is moving further away from Fiji.
Associated active trough of low pressure continues to affect the group.
Forecast for the Fiji group today, Strong north to northwest winds with average speeds of 40 to 55 km/hr with moment-ary gust to 85 km/hr.
Expect further periods of rain, heavy at times and squally thunderstorms and flooding of low lying areas.
Nausori
The Rewa River is continuing to rise and people are being advised to take necessary precaution now.
Commissioner Central Office confirmed that latest water level at the Rewa river is 4.03 meters as of 6.30am
The critical level is 4.5 meters.
Naitasiri
The people of Naitasiri have been advised to stay indoors during the current condition.
Roko Tui Naitasiri Peni Sokia said with the Rewa river rising people should stop traveling to flooded areas.
The Waima, Waila and Vatuwaqa bridges have been underwater since yesterday.
So far there are 6800 evacuees in 56 evacuation centres in the Western Division.
Tavua
Rain has eased a bit in Tavua currently but flood waters remain in many areas.
Officer in charge, Joseph Low confirmed that the Nabuna flats, Yaladro Flats, Mataniwai, Kororvou and Vanuakula areas are still under flood waters.
He said that Natawa Bridge towards Ba is also closed to all traffic as it is under flood waters.
Low said that as far as Tavua Town is concerned there is no flood waters currently and the rain has eased.
He said that there are 521 residents living in the 4 evacuation centres that has been provided.
