Children's lack of moral values and manners in the iTaukei community is something that is holding them back and contributing to social issues.
This was highlighted by the Tuirara Levu of the Methodist Church in Fiji and Rotuma Suva branch, Jone Vuto, who says that traditional 'taboos' are no longer observed.
Vuto says while every child who grows up in a family is taught how to pray, memorise bible verses, and learn about Jesus, parents are failing to teach them manners.
He adds when you teach your children about Christ, you also need to teach them how to respect others, speak properly, and dress appropriately.
The Tuirara Levu says children would be well-mannered if they are taught the right way.
Meanwhile, Vuto will be inducted on Sunday at the Centenary Church as a Vice-President of the Methodist Church in Fiji and Rotuma, with his position becoming effective on the 1st of January 2025.
The Methodist Church Annual Conference is currently underway at the Vodafone Arena.
