People living along the Waimanu and Wainibuka River are to move to high ground now.

DISMAC Director Manasa Tagicakibau says Waimanu River has gone past the warning level of 5 metres.

The level is now 5.24 metres.

He said with more rain expected, the Waimanu River will break its banks.

Tagicakibau said for the Wainibuka river, it has gone past the alert level of 5.0m and is now at 5.20m.

The warning level is 8m.

Tagicakibau said both these rivers feed to the Rewa River and this is why they are taking the readings from these rivers.

Meanwhile, Commissioner Central Laisenia Tuitubou said the Rewa river level is currently 2.5m and rising slowly.

Tuitubou said the threat level for the Rewa River is 4.9m.
