The works to repair the Waiyanitu Bridge in Namosi will begin this week after it was washed away due flooded waters last Friday.
The Fiji Roads Authority says they visited the site last week.
About 200 people living in Nakavu Village in Namosi who use the bridge were cut-off from accessing essential services.
Fijivillage received reports that the people were using water taxi as means of transportation.
FRA says that recent prolonged and intense rainfall has resulted in severe damage to the highway network.
They say road surfaces have been degraded and bridge and crossings have been compromised by flooding.
FRA says their team are working to ensure a safe network, and will continue to do so.
