New Australian coach Dave Rennie says Michael Hooper will have to re-earn his Wallabies spot and the captaincy in Super Rugby like all other players.
A day after Hopper relinquished the Waratahs captaincy, his Wallabies teammates have lined up to back the flanker as the right man to continue leading the Aussie team.
Rebels and Wallabies play-maker, Matt To’omua says Hooper has much experience in the captaincy role and he thinks he should be given the title.
New Brumbies captain, Allan Alaalatoa said Hooper would surely be the first person considered for the role even with a new coach joining the side.
Rennie says the message he will giving everyone is that players have to earn your place in the team, so they will be picking players based on their Super Rugby form.
Meanwhile, Waratahs will kick-off their Super Rugby campaign against defending champions the Crusaders at 6.05pm next Saturday.
